Getting sponsorships or affiliations are all about showing a company why you would be able to represent their brand to your best potential. Every single sponsorship/affiliations i have/had I reached out to the company. I wrote a profession email to whatever company I was interested in. Only reach out to companies you truly believe in. Don't just reach out to every company just to say you are sponsored. If you end up with a company you don't believe in you will be miserable, and will not be able to represent the company properly. Here are some tips when sending out the emails:
Open with your name, age, and where you are from. Explain what kind of competitor you are, and your achievements with competing. Make sure to mention any affiliations/sponsorships you already have.
Next explain why you would make a great fit for this company. Make sure you are 100% yourself. You never want to be sponsored by a company just because you pretended to be someone you are not.
Make sure to attach two pictures to your email. Competition pictures are always great.
Lastly keep it short!! You do not want to lose the companies attention with a 12 page paper. Keep it to two paragraphs. Short, sweet, and to the point. Do not get discouraged by getting turned down. I have been turned down more times I can count. Just remember things happen with time.
