From post competition bingers to expanding your cheat day into a cheat week it is extremely easy to fall off the wagon when it comes to your nutrition and training. Don't worry it happens to the best of us, but how in the world do you get back on track? Here are some of my tips to getting off the sugary rollercoaster.
Keep your cheat meal to a cheat meal. Don't allow yourself to expand your one meal into a day and then a week of binging. This is the number one cause of the downward spiral of falling off the wagon. Have one meal a week that normally wouldnt be on your diet regimen to treat yourself after all of the hard work you have put in in the previous week. Keep this in mind when you are letting tempation in. You never want to throw a week of hard work away just because you are having a craving. No you are not hungry. You are craving. Remember that.
Meal prep! This is crucial to staying on track. Make sure before you have a cheat that you have prepped meals for at least the following two days. This makes it so much easier to get right back on track to conquering your fitness goals.
Train your favorite muscle group the folowing day. This is something I personally do. It makes me look forward to lifting the next day, so I don't skip the gym. When you don't skip the gym it makes staying on track so much easier. It is all about staying in a routine.
Set long term and short term goals. When you are in a slump due to a bing it is time to get your mind right. Sit down and really think about what you want out of your fitness journey, and why you even embarked on this journey in the first place. Think about the progress you have made, and believe in yourself. Set long term and short term goals to keep you on track, and to avoid being detered from your goals once again. Short term goals should be something you want to accomplish within the next 12 months. Long term should be something you want to happen 1-10 years time. You want to imagine what you want your future to be like. Let that motivate you to get your butt back in gear.
Lastly remember we are all human. Just because you have had a little road bumb in the big picture of your fitness journey doesn't mean it isnt fixable. Get back up, and fight for what you deserve. Want more for yourself, and most importantly want a healthy long life.
Love,
Brooke
