A How To Guide On Staying Motivated

Step 1: Stop making excuses. Honestly, no one gives two shits if you did not get a good nights sleep, or if you feel like crap. If you are not willing to do the work someone else will. Be irreplaceable with a sick work ethic.

Step 2: Stay committed. You will lose friends, you will be surrounded by temptation, and you will feel weak. Stay focused on what your ultimate goal is, and never let anyone sway you from accomplishing it.

Step 3: Have a plan. Don't just dive into your fitness journey without short-term and long-term goals. For example a short-term goal of mine is to win a show, and a long term goal is to go pro. Having goals give you something to work towards, which will keep you extremely motivated.

Step 4: Take weekly progress pictures. This is crucial for staying motivated. I do this every week. A lot of the time I feel like I have not made any progress, but then I compare my progress picture from the week before and I can see changes. Don't rely on anyone else for motivation, because in the end you have to be your own motivation.

Step 5: Ignore trolls, scum bags, haters, and jealous little girls. I always like to say that everyone talking crap about me can take a seat with all the other haters waiting for me to give a shit. Have an unstoppable mindset. Who cares if someone who is not even participating in this lifestyle judges you? Just remember they don't know shit.

Step 6: For the love of God don't buy junk food. This is common sense people. Why buy something that is going to tempt you into derailing your goals for the week. If you have it in your kitchen you will eat it, especially at 4 in the morning when you could eat your own fucking hand three weeks out from a show. You will wake up the next morning feeling like crap, which sets a bad tone for the day.

Step 7: Love your body in all its stages. This has been a hard one for me, but the more I start to accept my body in my off season the more confident I am in season. You will not be shredded year round, especially if you are trying to put on size in the off season. Accept the fluff. Be confident in your own skin while working towards your ultimate goal.

Step 8: Watch Dana Linn Bailey. I shit you not this is what gets me through my fasted cardio. She is the badest of the bad, and is hands down the realest person in this industry. She is the best example of what confidence looks like. My favorite quote of all time is said by her, "I want to get out there and show girls it is ok to have a little bit of muscle, it's ok to be strong. Be confident in exactly who you are. The sexiest thing a girl can ever possess is confidence, and I rock that shit hard."

Step 9: Surround yourself with people who have the same goals and aspirations. My Instagram is literally all fitness people. I have reached out, and actually become friends with some competitors over Instagram. It is so awesome to surround yourself with people who motivate the shit out of you. Even though the internet pisses me off half the time I have found some of the sweetest people through it.

Step 10: Do it with heart, or don't fucking do it at all. If you are not going to put everything you have into your fitness journey why bother? Arnold, Phil Heath, Kai Greene, and Dana Linn Bailey didn't get to where they are today by half assing anything. They put hard fucking work in. Be that crazy mother fucker in the gym who people look at and wonder how you are still lifting two hours later. Be the only girl in gym. Be fearless on your quest for greatness. Be relentless, but most importantly be you. The last thing I will leave you with is always remember you can do it. Take each day one day at a time. Rome wasn't built in a day (I really can not beleive I just said something so cliche, I promise I am not that basic lol.)
